This course intends that you learn to recognize and diagnose the state of the piece in which you are going to work.

You will be able to decide the steps to take for its recovery or transformation.

You will learn to differentiate, old furniture from new furniture, old finish from new finish.

You will recognize the common woodsused in the construction of furniture.

You will acquire criteria to choose the ideal technique to strip, dye or apply traditional or new finishes to the pieces you will work with.

You will learn:

• Handling of basic manual tools.
• Different ways to disinfect the woods.
• You will know the uses of different types of putties and commercial or own-made stucco.
• You will make shellac and natural waxes.
